Some cities across the US seem to be regretting their decision to defund the police.
Minneapolis, where the “defund the police” movement took off, just gave the police more funding again.
New York and Baltimore also went back to funding the police more after making cuts. This is good news, but it doesn’t make what these liberal city officials did in the first place okay. Their “experiment” with less police funding was a devastating mistake, and we should never let them forget that.
We should never overlook the injustice committed by Democratic city officials who voted to strip police of their power and enable criminals to wreak havoc on peaceful citizens. Businesses burned, thefts and violent shootings increased, and worst of all, people were killed because of these inane policies.
And it was Democrats that allowed all this to happen. Never forget that.
Never forget that it was the “party of love and peace” that took power away from the peacemakers. Never forget that it was the “party that cares about minorities” that created an atmosphere where minorities were murdered at an alarming rate and minority-owned businesses were stolen from and destroyed by violent mobs.
Now, liberal cities are voting to give the police more funding again. It only took them over a year of violence to recognize their mistake—or more likely, they just chose to ignore it until they couldn’t any longer. If the Democrats in these cities want to hold onto their power, which is their only concern, then at some point they will have to protect their voters, and that’s what we’re seeing fold-out even now.
Another big election year is just around the corner. Democrats are going to try to cover up the mess they created when they defunded the police. We can’t let them pretend their decision to cut police funding didn’t have disastrous consequences.
